Table 4 Contraindications of triptans

Avoid triptans in the presence of:

 untreated arterial hypertension

 coronary heart disease

 Raynaud’s disease

 a history of ischaemic stroke

 pregnancy, breastfeeding

 severe liver or kidney failure

 age ≥ 65 years

 basilar or hemiplegic migraine
