Conserved sequence blocks from a multiple sequence alignment of EstSTR1 and related family VIII carboxylesterases, class C β-lactamases, and penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). Family VIII carboxylesterases are represented by EstU1 (uncultured bacterium, JF791800), EstC (uncultured bacterium, ACH88047), and EstB (Burkholderia gladioli, AAF59826). Class C β-lactamases are represented by Lac-1 (Escherichia coli, AAA23441) and Lac-2 (Enterobacter cloacae, P05364) and penicillin-binding proteins are represented by PBP-1 (Streptomyces sp.
