A schematic representation of the transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous flap insetting into the breast skin envelope. The proximal area of zone 4 forms the vascularized dermis graft, and lies on the periphery of the upper pole. The distal 80 % of zone 2 forms the dermo-adipofascial flap in the middle area and the dermofat flap in upper and lower area, and lies on the central area of the upper pole. Zone 1 and the proximal 20 % of zone 2 lie in the middle pole, and zone 3 lies in the lower pole
