From: The codA gene as a negative selection marker in Citrus
Phenotypes of non-transgenic and codA transgenic line Carrizo citrange internode segments on 5-FC containing media. Eighteen-month-old internodes of the codA2 transgenic line and non-transgenic Carrizo control (NT) were subjected to five levels of 5-fluorocytosine (5-FC). Internodes segments were placed on a Petri dish with shoot-induction medium containing various 5-FC concentrations. The explants were grown for 21 days under dark condition at 26°C and then transferred to light/dark condition at 27 ± 1°C.
