Propagation of seizure waves in a 2D model of a normally functioning human cortex when optogenetic stimulation is applied to a 280×280 mm2 patch in the centre of the cortex. Snapshots are taken from time t=0.5 s to t=1 s. Normal cortical function is characterized here by the baseline parameters of (Kramer et al. 2006) with P ee =11.0 and Γ e =0.0012. The cortex is stimulated with a constant light intensity of 50 mW /mm2 at 0.5 s.
