Class

Definition

1. Waterbody

Areas of open water and small ponds including river Beas and Sutlej and the two reservoirs (Figure 1 - R1 and R2).

2. Wetland I

Dense vigorous vegetation including Eichhornia, some grasses and shrubs.

3. Wetland II

Mainly composed of grasses (such as Typha and Arundo which are the two dominant vegetation types in the wetlands), and woodland vegetation.

4. Barren land

Residential areas, barren land, sandy lands along river Beas and Sutlej and bare soil.

5. Agriculture land

Crop fields and fallow land.
