FT-IR spectrum of some major purified compounds. The purified and dried compounds were ground in KBr and absorbances were recorded in the range 400-4000 cm-1 to generate the FT-IR spectra. The FT-IR Spectra of four major compounds A, C, E and F are shown here. All purified fractions consistently indicated the presence of hydroxyl group (3400-3300 cm-1) a ketonic group or ester carbonyl (1740 cm-1) and a hydrogen bonded carbonyl (1600 cm-1) which are characteristics of anthracyclines.
