Linear relationship between fine root biomass (t ha -1 ) and soil C stocks (t ha -1 ) measured in the 0–20 cm soil depth range (left diagram; p < 0.001) and in the entire 0–60 cm soil profile (right diagram; p < 0.01). Mean fine root biomass data and mean C stocks data obtained for each land use at each site (n = 12) were used to obtain these relationships.
