Effect of cold exposure on ascorbate content in transgenic and wild type tomato plants exposed to cold treatment. Plants at 90 days after transplanting were exposed to cold treatment for 2 and 24 h and ascorbate content was analyzed in leaves. The values are mean (n = 4) fold ascorbate content over the respective untreated control. Error bars indicate SE. The mean values in one series indicated by different letters are statistically significant (P ≤ 0.05) according to LSD test.
