No modes fall outside the red-noise envelope and no modes are well-separated from others; thus no significant mode can be identified. The second plot in (a) shows the cumulative variance accounted for by the first twenty modes. (b) Shows the RCs for this model. As in the other NCAR model (Figure 7), RC1 exhibits a multidecadal tempo. It is a single mode with no propagating signal. It is a moot point, as none of the modes fall outside the red-noise envelope.
