SDS-PAGE, supernatant of L. lactis NZ9000 carrying pNZ45subC plasmid containing subC gene. Samples were induced at OD600 0.1 with 10 000 NZ9700 supernatant. GM17 media were supplemented as described below. Lane M PageRuler™ Prestained Protein Ladder (Fermentas). Lane 1 0.5 mM CaCl2 without induction. Lane 2 0.5 mM CaCl2. Lane 3 0.5 mM MgCl2. Lane 4 0.5 mM MnCl2. Lane 5 GM17 without supplements, without induction. Lane 6 GM17 without supplements. Arrow indicates bands in induced samples representing the SubC protease.
