The CLTC-dependent endocytosis pathway regulates LD accumulation. Nile Red quantification of neutral lipids in MALME-3M and MCF-7 cells was greatly reduced by low temperatures (A) and by CHP (B). Cells were kept at 37°C or at 4°C for 120 min. in the presence of petroselinic acid (100 μg/ml) (A). Cells were co-incubated for 120 min. with petroselinic acid (100 μg/ml) alone or CHP at a concentration of 50 μg/ml in MALME-3M cells and 100 μg/ml in MCF-7 cells (B). The accumulation of neutral lipids was quantified by Nile Red staining in both experiments. The average values from three independent analyses are shown. *P <0.05 compared to each control.
